Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to read this site and get in touch, whatever device they use and whatever assistive technology they rely on. We treat accessibility as part of building the site properly, not as a badge to bolt on afterwards.

2. The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. That is the benchmark most commonly referenced in the United States for public facing sites. We are not claiming a formal certification, we are telling you the target we build against and where we currently fall short.

3. What we have built in

• Real text throughout, so it can be resized, read aloud or reflowed. Almost nothing important is trapped inside an image.
• A logical heading order on every page, so screen reader users can jump through the structure instead of reading top to bottom.
• Colour combinations chosen for contrast, with the deep green and cream palette tested against the body text and button text it sits behind.
• Descriptive link text. Links say where they go rather than saying click here.
• Alt text on the photographs that carry meaning, including our host and clinic images.
• Titles on embedded maps and video frames, so they are announced properly rather than read out as an unlabelled frame.
• Layouts that reflow down to small phone screens without horizontal scrolling, with a persistent call and consultation bar at the bottom on mobile.
• Respect for the reduce motion setting in your operating system. If you have it switched on, the fade and slide animations and the smooth scrolling are turned off automatically.
• Touch targets and menus sized for fingers, not just cursors, with the service menus opening on tap rather than requiring a hover.

4. Known limitations, stated honestly

We would rather list these than pretend they are not there:

• Some older images in our media library still have no alt text. We are working through them.
• The video players and the map are supplied by YouTube and Google. We control how they are embedded and labelled, but not what is inside them.
• Not every podcast episode has a caption track or a written transcript yet. This is the gap we are most keen to close, and until then we will send you a summary of any episode on request.
• Our contact form is built with a third party form plugin. We have styled it for contrast and labelling, but if any part of it defeats you, the phone line does the same job.

5. Getting the same information another way

Anything published on this site is available another way. Call us and we will read it to you, explain a treatment page, send information in a larger print format, or take your consultation details over the phone. There is no charge and no need to explain why you are asking.

6. Visiting the clinic

Iowa Wellness Center is at 1395 Jordan St Unit C, North Liberty, IA 52317, with free parking directly outside and a level entrance from the lot. If you use a wheelchair or walker, need extra time, are bringing a service animal, or would like someone to meet you at the door, tell us when you book and we will arrange it in advance.

7. How we keep checking

Accessibility is reviewed as pages are built and updated, using a mix of keyboard testing, contrast checking and automated tooling. It is an ongoing job rather than a finished one, and new content can introduce new problems.

8. Tell us what is broken

If you hit a barrier on this site, please tell us. Describe the page and what happened, and we will fix it or find you another way to get what you needed. We aim to reply within one business day.
